The Assad Brothers Duo is the World’s premier guitar duo having established their place in the broader classical world through performances with Yo Yo Ma, Nadja Solerno-Sonnenberg, Gidon Kremer, Dawn Upshaw, and many others.

“A kind of wizardry lies within the playing of Sergio and Odair Assad… they produce a supple, flawless unified sound.” The New York Times“Because they have been performing together for most of their lives, and because they play from memory, there is a lively interaction between them that creates the impression that they are improvising like a couple of virtuosic, perhaps even telepathic, jazz players.” The New York Times“… the best two-guitar team in existence, maybe even in history… no amount of anticipation could have prepared me for the Brazilian brothers’ daringly flexible, eerily unanimous ensemble playing.” The Washington Post

There will be a brief, casual concert by internationally acclaimed guitarists Adam Del Monte & Christopher McGuire.
One of the leading flamenco and classical guitarist/composers of his generation, Adam del Monte has made it his life mission to fully express himself in these two genres, transcending labeling and convention. Always having incorporated a wide array of musical styles in his compositions, del Monte  has embarked on a journey of creating a unique sound and language of flamenco that is both steeped in tradition and progressive in its openness to musical flavors from around the world.

McGuire has performed hundreds of concerts on five continents. He has played his guitar for presidents of the United States and Mexico, three former governors of Texas and members of the Spanish Royal Family.

Acclaimed Classical Guitarist Christopher McGuire & Musicians are available for community concerts, recitals and/or public or private receptions or events.

Guitar Concerts can be named for Individuals, Businesses, or Corporations.
The Allegro Guitar Concert Series and other presentations are just the tip of what we do at the Guitar Society. We also perform outreach programs for children in neighboring school districts throughout Tarrant County. Videos and more details are available on our website: www.guitarsociety.org with school program information under ‘Outreach.’

Texas Tapestry: Especially adaptable to Middle & High school History Study: “Texas Tapestry, a Musical Journey” traces the influences various groups have brought to Texas over a period of 500 years and the influence Texas musicians are now having on the rest of the world. The historical and geographically rich script was co-written by Madeline Myers and Christopher McGuire. Performers in the program are NEA National Heritage Fellowship Honoree, Jim “Texas Shorty” Chancellor; Banjo Champion, Gerald Jones; jazz and classical bassist George Anderson and FWCGS Artistic Director, Christopher McGuire.

The Allegro Guitar Quartet (AGQ) performs “From Ragas to Riches,” a program for Elementary school children that traces the plight of the Gitano (or Rom) people from northern India to Spain. The students hear musical influences the Gypsies carried with them and some they picked up along their way from India to Spain. All at once they receive lessons in music, history, various cultures and geography. We introduce students to the sitar, mandolin, hammered and mountain dulcimers, lute, violin and several kinds of guitars. AGQ performers are Gerald Jones, Polly Maynard, Christopher McGuire and Jan Ryberg.

‘Imagination Game’ & Career Day Outreach Programs: Christopher McGuire will inspire your students with stories of his childhood and how he came to realize he could do, “pretty much anything I saw another human doing as long as I was willing to practice.” Rather than merely showing students how they might become musicians, he shows them how, in our country, they can become anything they are willing to work for. He explains to them, “You are here in school to practice becoming the best you that you can be.” McGuire also includes his now famous group chant: “I’m exercising my brain – to have more FREEDOM!” It’s a celebration of the limitless possibilities of growing up and being educated in the United States of America.

PRIVATE & GROUP GUITAR INSTRUCTION: Additionally we provide private and group guitar instruction for adults and children in local schools and/or classroom settings & a Guitar Club.
